My
interest in decorative painting was spurred by the
popular re-discovery of faux marbre in the 1980's. I was
intrigued that humble paint could be so transformative.
I studied classic design and faux techniques at the
Isabel O'Neil Studio Workshop for the Art of the Painted
Finish in New York City, in 1986. As I applied what I
had learned, I found that the design and color concepts
I was taught were applicable to a broad range of fine
and decorative arts.
In
1987, I established my first decorative painting
business, Fofo. I worked for private clients, designers,
and business owners through the late '80s and '90s. My
interest in fine art and room design grew; my work
provided opportunities to do both.
